Working hard for Retford

I liked the market when it was down Carolgate, but was concerned how crowded it became maybe just having stalls one side would be good and keeping a few in the square too. This way the shops that suffered from customers not being able to get to them can be kept clear and the shops that benifitted from the market being there will hopefully still benefit.

the market in carol gate is a great idea for the future, however having some stall on carol gate and the square would not work all the stalls must move or none at all,

As someone who works in retail i think its a good idea to move some of it back onto carolgate as it makes people go into shops along there more ... the only downside i can see to it is some of the stalls blocked entrances and exits to shops as they were too close to them for example it was really hard to get in and out of some stores on a saturday which is retfords busiest day for business, i think it will aid the more independant businesses in retford. I also think that it will be good to preserve the market square after all the money its just had spent on it as it would be a shame to ruin that area as it looks nice now .

I think the market would be better off on carolgate as market traders were doing better and also the shops was aswell. My husband talks to all the market traders and everyone has said they did better up Carolgate and now there back on the Market Square the trade has gone down :)

Yes I work in retail down Carolgate our profits were up whilst the Market was trading along Carolgate. I am also a councillor and fully support a move onto Carolgate.
